The Schedule 16 commodity code table as a CSV file

The file reproduces the Table in paragraph 1 of Schedule 16 to the Finance Act 2026 as read on legislation.gov.uk on13 September 2026, one row per entry, with the sector heading and the status of each code. It holds 42covered entries, 13 codes the Table excepts, and 4 headings that are omitted from the Table and whose descriptions come from the UK Integrated Online Tariff. The descriptions of covered codes are the Act's own words.
What the columns hold
Commodity code, as the Act prints it; description; sector, where the code is covered; status under Schedule 16, which is one of in scope, excepted by the Table, not in Schedule 16, or, for 7202 29, in scope as the Act stands with a discrepancy in HMRC's published material; the source; and the date of the law the row rests on. A row for the whole of chapter 72 stands for every heading of that chapter that is not excepted, since the Act lists the chapter as one entry.
How to use it
Match the first four, six or eight digits of each commodity code on a customs declaration against the rows, taking the longest match, so that an eight-digit code under 7202 29 or 7204 meets its exception before it meets chapter 72. The checker applies the same rule to a single code, and each row has a page under commodity codes with the category, the gases and the precursors. A new version of the file is published, with a new date, whenever the Table is amended under paragraph 2(3) of Schedule 16 or the status board records a change that touches it.
